What is Flash Cure™ UV Light Curing Lash Application System
Flash Cure™ involves the combination of using a very gentle and low intensity UV LED light in combination with a specialized cyanoacrylate adhesive that contains a photo initiator. When the UV light is directed at the adhesive, the photoinitator within the adhesive acts as a catalyst to initiate the curing process of the adhesive – taking it from liquid to solid within seconds for a securely attached and durable extension that will last until the natural lash sheds. In addition to accelerating the curing process, adhesive fumes are quickly eliminated. In summary, this process accelerates the curing process, reduces fumes, and enhances lash retention.
Who can use the Flash Cure™ UV Lash Extensions System?
Lash Stylists of all skill levels can now effectively apply lash extensions with Ease, Speed & Precision™ and enjoy the benefits of low odor, low fume, instant attachment, stronger bonds, application time reduced by up to 50%, retention up to 3x longer, minimized adverse reactions, and their clients' ability to resume their everyday lifestyle IMMEDIATELY.
Less experienced Lash Stylists will immediately enjoy being able to adjust and perfect their lash extensions exactly where they want them to be before they cure the adhesive. When using traditional cyanoacrylate lash extension adhesives, moving the extension after making contact with the natural lash hurts overall retention. This is due to the bonds that form from the moment they touch, which are then broken when you adjust the extension. With the Flash Cure™ UV Lash Extension System, you can place the lash, adjust it freely, then YOU CHOOSE when to cure it.
Intermediate to Advanced Stylists will enjoy that this system minimizes sticking compared to other adhesives, which will save time in applications and give applications a much cleaner look. The act of going through freshly applied lashes could be impacting the adhesive bonds, and result in premature lash extension loss. You decide when to cure the lash using the Flash Cure™ Light, giving you plenty of time to adjust the extension up, down, sideways – whatever you need to do – before you cure the extension, resulting in a secure attachment that does not cause sticking between adjacent lashes.
Is Flash Cure™ safe?
As an RN and Former ICU nurse, safety is a core value of Jo Mousselli's. Under her direction, a team of engineers, chemists, curriculum developers, and professional Lash Stylists designed and developed the Flash Cure™ Light Curing System. Everything was tested to meet high standards for efficacy, safety, and compatibility.
- The Flash Cure™ UV light emits ONLY UVA rays, which are the gentlest form of UV rays. Compare that with exposure to the sun, which emits both UVA, UVB and UVC rays.
- Xtreme Lashes proprietary patent-pending and customizable UV blocking Silicone Upper and Under Eye Patches reduce your clients’ exposure to UV rays during their application to miniscule levels.
- For example, if a stylist applies 100 extensions or fans per eye for a total of 200 attachments during a lash application, she/he will flash the light a total of 200 times. Since, with each attachment, the stylist will only flash the light for 1/5th of a second on average, the client's exposure is only 40 seconds of UVA rays – that’s less than a minute! Compare that to the average time you spend in the sun with your eyes open without UV blocking glasses, during which your eyes are subjected to UVA and UVB rays. Additionally, since your client’s eyes remain closed during the application, and you’ve protected their upper and lower eyelids with UV blocking patent-pending customizable patches, your client’s eyes and eyelids are being protected from UV rays with only their lash line being exposed. If you follow our Flashcure step-by-step instructions, the rest of your client's face and body as well as your hands and your body should NOT get exposed to UV rays during the application.
Will Flash Cure™ lash extension applications age skin prematurely?
No. As you can see in this image, we are targeting a maximum of a one-inch diameter within the protected orbital eye area. The eye is protected with UV protecting Upper and Under Eye Patches, and only the lash line is exposed for on average 40 seconds during the application. Furthermore, as you can see from this image, the client’s face, neck and body are NOT getting exposed. Even the lash stylist’s hands are not getting exposed to the UV light rays. Furthermore, when the INVISIBLE UV rays from the Flash Cure™ UV Light encounter Xtreme Lashes UV blocking Silicone Upper and Under eye patches, UV rays will NOT penetrate NOR reflect off the patches. Instead, the INVISIBLE UV rays will fluoresce and become visible PURPLE light which will reflect onto nearby surfaces creating a beautiful purple glow. During your applications, you will notice this harmless and beautiful purple glow reflecting on surfaces within your application station, including your client's face, nose, cheek, eyebrows, and on your application tools, hands, nails, etc.
What additional protective measures should be taken when using Flash Cure™?
Use Xtreme Lashes Flashcure UV-blocking Customizable Patent-Pending Upper and Under Eye Patches. Do NOT keep the upper eyelid exposed to the UV light rays. And, Do NOT use any other eye patches. Other eye patches will NOT block UV rays regardless of their color or shape.
- Use Xtreme Lashes Flashcure UVA LED light that was designed and developed to go hand in hand with Flashcure adhesive. Do NOT use any other UV light. Other lights may be too hot, they may emit higher UV rays than necessary, and/or the adhesive may NOT cure as well.
- Use Xtreme Lashes Flashcure Adhesive designed and developed to go hand in hand with the Flashcure UV LED Light. Do NOT use any other adhesive. Other adhesives my not have the right ingredients to cure in a flash and/or may be too thick, too thin, too fast, too slow and too odorous. Remember, at Xtreme Lashes everything is developed holistically and symbiotically to work as a system.
- Use the Xtreme Lashes Primer to prime natural lashes BEFORE you attach. The Xtreme Lashes primer and the Flash Cure™ adhesive were designed to work together to give you the strongest attachment and the best retention.
- Keep the client’s eyes closed during the application and instruct them NOT to open their eyes during the application.
- Do not look directly into the UV light when the light is turned on. SHOW caution image on light
- Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation within your lash application space during your lash applications.
- Make sure you’ve been trained and certified in the Fundamentals of Professional Eyelash extension application to use the Flashcure System.
- Watch and follow the comprehensive video directions that we developed on how to use the Flashcure™ professional application system. We developed these step-by-step video tutorials to give you and your clients the peace of mind to be confident in using Flashcure ™.
Who can receive lash extensions using the Flash Cure™ UV Lash Extension Application System?
If your client is a candidate for eyelash extensions per the client consultation you conduct, then they will qualify to receive lash extensions using the Flash Cure™ UV Lash Extension System with the following guidelines and precautions that we have always taught our Lash Stylists to follow:
Always start with a pre-application consultation and end on aftercare instructions with every client and with every client application. And, if in doubt, always have your clients consult their medical providers.
Note that some individuals may have underlying medical conditions and/or are taking medications – topical, oral or injectable - that increase sensitivity to light: referred to as Photosensitivity. Photosensitivity is not specific to UV light. Photosensitivity occurs with natural sunlight as well as artificial light UV and NON UV included. Extra precautions must be taken with those individuals when considering Flash Cure. Ask them to consult with their practitioners before receiving lash extensions since some will have very mild reactions to light while others may have more significant or severe side effects. Examples of medical conditions include: Lupus, Polymorphous light eruptions, Conjunctivitis and Rosacea. Examples of medications include: tetracycline, doxycycline NSAIDs and chemotherapy. Examples of topical products that can cause photosensitivity are retinoids, retinols and glycolic acid.
Those who have recently had eye or facial surgeries – medical or cosmetic - should wait until they are fully healed and cleared by their medical or esthetic practitioners before receiving eyelash extensions. Examples include: laser eye surgery, face lifts, and professional grade laser treatments, such as CO2 lasers or deep chemical peels.
Every client consultation should end on BOTH client and stylist agreeing to move forward with the lash application as evidenced by the client signing the waiver and release form.
What do I need to start using Flash Cure™ today?
Since the Flash Cure™ UV Lash Extensions System is compatible with your existing supplies, you ONLY need to add the Xtreme Lashes Flash Cure™ UV Lash Extension System Essentials Kit. This kit was designed to give you everything you need to get started. When you're ready to restock your supplies, add the following to cart:
- Flash Cure™ Restock Kit, which has all the disposables and liquids, less the adhesive and eyelash primer. Ready to supply you with the liquids and disposables for up to 8 applications, you can easily reorder this as needed to help you plan for as many clients as you’d like to take on.
- Flash Cure™ Adhesive + Primer Kit. This simple kit is perfect to pair with the restock kit, as long as you already have the Flash Cure™ UV Light. You never want to run out of adhesive and primer!
- Silicone Upper Eye Patches & Under Eye Patches: Available in boxes of 4- and 50-pairs. These proprietary patches were developed specifically to block UV rays during your applications. Our patent pending Eye Patches will protect your client’s eyelids from unnecessary UV rays.
- Lashista™ LED Light: Although not part of these kits, we also recommend using the Lashista LED Light as your overhead light during lash application since the warmer light color settings do not emit any UV rays that can negatively affect the performance of the Flash Cure UV Lash Extension Adhesive.
I AM a professional Lash Stylist. How do I learn how to use the Flash Cure™ UV Lash Extension Application System?
Incorporating Flash Cure™ is easy. We created FREE comprehensive online education and training videos to teach you how to use the system safely and confidently.
To incorporate Flash Cure™, simply watch the series of complimentary Flash Cure™ videos that we developed to help you set up your lash application station, prep your clients’ eyes using the UV blocking upper and under eye patches, and how to set up and use the Flash Cure™ UV Light during lash applications in conjunction with the Flash Cure™ UV Lash Extension Adhesive. Please watch the all the videos in our Flash Cure™ UV Lash Extension Application System series.
Access all of them on our YouTube channel. For your convenience, we created a playlist called
"FlashCure™ UV Lash Extension Application System".
I am NOT trained in professional lash extension applications. Can I start using the Flash Cure™ UV Lash Extension Application System?
The system is designed for professional Lash Stylists who have already mastered the fundamentals of professional lash extension application.
The videos in our Flash Cure series are NOT intended to teach you the fundamentals or advanced techniques for professional lash extension applications. If you do not have the fundamentals of lash extension application mastered, we recommend the Classic Training. For advancing your lash application skills, we recommend Omni Volume Training.
Is the Flash Cure™ compatible with Xtreme Lashes application techniques, professional supplies and aftercare & cosmetics?
Yes. Jo's mission is to take a systematic and holistic approach when developing products and techniques. You can continue to use your existing supplies, application techniques, and aftercare products with Flashcure™!
Furthermore, while flash cured lash extensions are more resilient, more durable, and more securely attached, and can better stand friction, wind, water, humidity, and sweat, we recommend you continue to use Xtreme Lashes Aftercare Cosmetics because we can assure you that the ingredients in all of these products have been hand selected NOT to break down the adhesive bond. You don’t want to risk using cleansers, serums, creams and eyeliners that contain ingredients that can chemically break down the adhesive. The wrong chemicals can dissolve the adhesive.
Rest assured our holistic line of lash care cosmetics are lash extension compatible.
Furthermore, all our Aftercare & Cosmetics are developed using the best ingredients from science and nature at the highest concentration for efficacy. Everyone can use our luxury cosmetics!
Is the light going to bother my client?
Your client may feel some gentle warmth each time the light is activated. This should be the extent of their experience when using the Flash Cure UV Lash Extension Light. If your client communicates that the light is too warm, let them know that they will adapt to the warmth in a few minutes. If they still wish for a cooler light after a few minutes, go down to intensity level 4, which may require you to activate the light more than once to get the proper attachment.
Why did Xtreme Lashes include UV Blocking Glasses with this system?
While it’s highly unlikely that stylists will come into contact with any UVA rays from the FlashCure UV Light. The exposure, if it occurs at all, would be indirect due to reflections from your tweezers or tools. The majority of Xtreme Lashes tweezers and tools have a matte finish, reducing the risk even further. Scientifically, we can’t prove 100% that no UV rays will reflect back. We would need to create intensive experiments to prove this. We prefer to leave it up to the lash stylists’ discretion as to whether or not they wear it.
In summary, UVA exposure to Lash Stylists is insignificant and miniscule in comparison to the day-to-day UVA and UVB exposure you would receive from walking around on a sunny day without wearing UV Blocking Glasses.
Furthermore, the majority of Lash Stylists already wear UV blocking eyewear because most eyewear today, including prescription and reader glasses have UVA and UVB protective coatings. If you’re unsure whether you have UV blocking eyewear, check with your eyewear provider.
If my current glasses are UV blocking, do I need to wear these?
No, if your current glasses are UV blocking, you do not need to wear the FlashCure UV Blocking Glasses
Do I need to wear these in addition to the glasses and/or magnifying specs that I already wear to perform lash applications?
